Gartner's Hype Cycle And Machine Learning Trends

The most recent Gartner hype cycle was released last month. They do an excellent job of covering the top-level points, but it is useful to cover the significant machine learning trends in greater detail. Those points need context and real-world examples.

Many of their points don't have clear connections to our field. Machine learning is an enabling technology that new waves are being built on. Approaches are finally mature enough to develop reliable foundations for new technologies to leverage.

Businesses are being introduced to these applications, many for the first time, in Gartner's Hype Cycle. You'll hear executive and C-level leaders using some of these terms. They will spawn a tidal wave of conference talks and infographics.
