The next step puts you in front of a completely different cast of characters. It can feel like they’re playing games with you. It’s a new way of operating meant to create an advantage for the business during the hiring process. Why play games?

The business no longer has the advantage so they need to project strength and find high ground where they can. Mature mid-sized and all large companies engage in some level of the game. Early stage startups and small businesses, even some mid-sized businesses, do not operate this way. You may be one of the first key hires they bring on board. They don’t understand the need for all of it yet.
