How To Make The Data Science Team's Role In Business Improvement Obvious.
The Data and Analytics organization return significant value to the business. We need to do a better job at making those returns obvious. Here's my framework.
All models are wrong, and some are useful. I adapt that mantra to everything having to do with improvement.
· All decisions are wrong, and some are useful.
· All processes are broken, and some are useful.
· All code has bugs, and some of it runs.
· All experiments are flawed, and some produce supportable results.
The truth is nothing complex really works. It is the best we have until we find a flaw and fix it.
Everything is partial which makes improvement inevitable. This falls under the management consulting concept of change but that is the completely wrong mindset. Change just means different and that’s insufficient. Change for purpose is improvement.
Rhyming sounds cheesy, I know, but it is an effective memorization tool. People start repeating it. Repeat something enough times and it becomes accepted.
